“Geophysics News in Azerbaijan” scientific-technical journal
The scientific, technical and informational journal "Geophysics News in Azerbaijan" is published quarterly by the Geophysics and Geology Department of SOCAR. The journal covers the publication of articles related to the field of geophysics - onshore/offshore seismic exploration, processing and interpretation of seismic data, LWD, study of reservoir characteristics, engineering geology, topography and seabed bathymetry, petroleum geology, lithology, petrophysics, and other fields.
The scientific and technical journal “Geophysics News in Azerbaijan” has been published since 1997. The founders of the journal were then the Geophysics and Engineering Geology Production Union of SOCAR and the Azerbaijan National Geophysics Committee. In 2006, as a result of structural reforms in SOCAR, the Geophysics and Geology Department was established on the basis of the Geophysics and Engineering Geology Production Union.
Over the years, dozens of papers devoted to the latest geophysical, geological, and seismological researches have been published in the journal. Publication of papers in three languages - Azerbaijani, Russian and English - allows expanding its scope and readership. The second page of the journal cover displays the advertising of geophysical services provided in our Republic and the equipment used, while the third page of the cover displays the strict requirements for paper submission intended for authors’ attention. Major events covering the oil industry and anniversary congratulations of well-known geoscientists are also published in the journal.
