DEPTH-STRATIGRAPHIC FEATURES OF ROCKS IN MUD VOLCANOES EJECTA IN AZERBAIJAN (ANALYTICAL-INFORMATION REVIEW)
Abstract
The paper examines the geological, depth-stratigraphic, tectonic characteristics of mud volcanic areas, as well as their internal structure (especially mud chambers), records of seismic stations about eruptions, and visual and geochemical characteristics of rock ejecta. Based on the data obtained as a result of the above studies, possible relationships between the maximum depth of volcanoes roots and the intervals of the Cretaceous and Eocene sediments are studied. In addition, we use oil shales taken from the Upper Maikop section of the Shikhzarli outcrop as a reference for comparing the organic-geochemical parameters, the content of adsorbed water and sedimentary paleoenvironment of the ejected rocks, rich in organic matter (> 8%), and the geological age is doubtful. These studies made it possible to establish a geological regularity in connection with their belonging to the Upper Maykop and the Middle Eocene.
