ORGANIC-GEOCHEMICAL STUDIES OF OIL SHALE IN THE DIYALLI AREA, AZERBAIJAN
Abstract
The geochemical analysis of oil shale from the Diyalli area, located in the Ismayilli region of Azerbaijan, was carried out. According to the results of the stepwise thermal analysis of kerogen, it was revealed that the bulk of organic matter changes in the temperature range of 300-5000C. According to the results of pyrolysis, the initial stage is the formation of an oil-like substance (bitumen) and pyrogenic water. An increase in temperature led to gas formation, and at the last stage, the process ends with the release of coal. The results of our studies allow us to conclude that the oil shales of the Diyalli region are thermally mature.
